“DI could write a thousand words here and it wouldn't be enough. This is a little slice of heaven on earth. Driving up and seeing the beautiful view, we could feel our stresses lift from our shoulders and float away. Watching sunsets from the outdoor bath, wine in hand, was a perfect way to wind down each day. The cabin is perfectly situated within a leisurely 25 minute drive from all attractions (and next to a delicious ice cream place!) It has everything you need to feel at home, and some extra special touches too (we loved the handmade soap and local coffee). Peter and Jill were warm and genuine hosts, with plenty of tips to help us get the most out of our stay. Thank you so much, we are already planning our return.

~Jill & Peter were warm, friendly & accommodating~
The view took our breath away as soon as we arrived. Taking a shower in the open bathroom while watching the sunset was a memorable experience you don't usually get. The tropical fruits were a real treat! The bamboo towels were so luxurious, the soap was so nice, the flowers left around the place were beautiful. Everything adds up to a peaceful, serene, wonderful place to stay. The place is about 25 minutes away from Cape Tribulation where you can depart on a boat to the Great Barrier Reef to snorkel and see turtles. Jill & Peter will book this for you & recommend the best day/time to go during your stay. Overall it's a great place to stay to explore the Daintree and the Great Barrier Reef.

"We loved staying at Wompoo Retreat
Awesome, magical place with incredible views! Really enjoyed our first experience at an eco lodge. It had everything we needed and Peter was a very welcoming host."

~We had such a wonderful stay~
Incredible, we stayed three nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Would have rated above 5 stars if we could. A very special place, from waking to the myriad of bird calls, to the fresh breakfast ingredients, to soaking in the outdoor tub under the stars. Thanks for being great hosts.

~immersed ourselves in the outdoor bath and gazed up at the stars above us~
We arrived at Wompoo and found the reality to be as beautiful as the web photos. Surrounded by forest with views across the green misty mountains, well appointed accommodation, tropical flowers placed throughout, handmade scented soaps and soft fluffy towels. Outdoor kitchen on the patio included gas burners and all your cooking utensils really appealed to the cook in me. Tidy bins to the side for compost and recycling helped me to reduce my carbon footprint while on holiday. No mains power just good clean Queensland sunshine powering the lights. The bathroom has huge open windows and I found an unbelievable pleasure in the simple act of brushing my teeth while looking out over the Daintree. After spending our days walking on the beaches and through the forests we immersed ourselves in the outdoor bath and gazed up at the stars above us. Some good books available, fiction and non-fiction in our room, including bird books which helped me to identify the birds we spotted through the binoculars which were also in the room. Early in the morning on two occasions I heard the Wompoo Fruit Dove, wollock-woolloo....will never forget it. Thanks Jill and Peter for a lovely week of unwinding and recharging.

~We had high expectations but even these were surpassed~
Truely a magnificent, tranquil spot. Very clean and comfortable. The outdoor tub was divine. Cow bay is the most beautiful beach along the stretch and free from the tourist masses. Thank you Peter and Jill for a lovely stay.

~Peter & Jills place is stunning and was just what we needed in terms of relaxing and going off the grid for a couple of days~
The view is incredible from the accommodation and the facilities are great. We particularly enjoyed relaxing in the outdoor bath watching the sun set over the Rainforest. This place is another magical find.

~We had a marvellous three night stay at Peter and Jill's place. They are very approachable and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable~
Their spacious unit is well designed for the climate of Daintree. The unit is on top of a hill with large windows. There was always a cool breeze at night so no need for fans at all. It is also screened so we could enjoy sleeping without mosquitos and other nightlife. Every item in the unit has a personal touch which made our stay just a little bit better- good quality linen, Jill's handmade soap, small selection of books and magazines that reflect hosts' good tastes and the breakfast with fresh milk, local fruit and freshly ground coffee. The outdoor bath is an absolute treat and the kitchen has gas burners with a hot plate so we could barbecue as well as cook other stuff. The unit is also very close to the many attractions in Daintree so we could spend more hours of the day relaxing and not driving around too much. We loved sleeping to the sounds of the rainforest in our comfy king bed and being disconnected from the world for a few days. Would highly recommend this place!
